Loft Clearances in Crawley, Horsham, East Grinstead & Beyond

Lofts often become long term storage areas rather than usable spaces. Over time they fill with bulky, awkward and sometimes forgotten items that are difficult to remove safely. Green City Recycling provides a professional loft clearance service across the South East, helping homeowners, landlords and property managers clear lofts efficiently without the risks that come with heavy lifting or limited access. As a fully licensed waste carrier, we remove and dispose of loft contents responsibly, recycling wherever possible and providing full documentation for peace of mind. Our loft clearance service is often booked alongside wider domestic clearances or before renovation and insulation work.

Why Loft Clearances Need a Specialist Approach

Loft clearances are very different from clearing ground floor rooms. Limited headroom, narrow loft hatches, weak joists and awkward stair access all increase the risk of injury or property damage. Many items stored in lofts are also dusty, heavy or fragile, making manual handling unsafe without the right experience. Our team is used to working in confined spaces and understands how to remove items carefully without damaging ceilings, walls or staircases. We handle all loading and transport, allowing you to avoid unnecessary risk.

What We Remove From Lofts

We regularly clear a wide range of loft contents, including:
  • Old furniture and flat packed items
  • Boxes of household belongings
  • Suitcases and storage containers
  • Old toys, books and personal items
  • Carpets, underlay and flooring materials
  • Broken appliances and electrical items
  • Building waste from previous work
  • General rubbish and bagged waste
If your loft clearance forms part of a larger strip out or refurbishment, our demolition and rip out service may also be relevant.

Responsible Recycling and Disposal

We aim to recycle as much loft waste as possible. Materials such as wood, metal, cardboard and mixed household waste are separated and sent to authorised recycling facilities. Reusable items can be donated to charity shops on request. Electrical items discovered during loft clearances are handled through our compliant WEEE recycling service, ensuring safe and legal disposal. More information about our environmental approach can be found on our about us page.

A Practical Alternative to Skip Hire

Hiring a skip for a loft clearance is often impractical. Waste still needs to be carried down manually, permits may be required and skips are frequently left underused or filled by others. Our clearance service avoids these issues entirely. You only pay for the amount of waste removed, and there is no need for permits. For properties with restricted parking or busy roads, our Wait and Load option allows us to clear loft waste quickly and leave immediately.

Loft Clearances for Different Situations

Our loft clearance service is commonly used for:
  • Preparing homes for sale or renovation
  • End of tenancy clearances for rented properties
  • Landlords dealing with abandoned items
  • Creating storage or converting loft spaces
  • Decluttering before insulation or repair work
  • Part of wider commercial or residential projects
If loft contents are only part of the overall job, our team can clear the entire property in one visit.
